The International Nurses Association is pleased to welcome Reena Bhandari, RN, to their prestigious organization with her upcoming publication in the Worldwide Leaders In Healthcare. Reena Bhandari is a Registered Nurse with over 30 years of experience in her field and an extensive expertise in all facets of nursing, especially mental health and addiction. Reena is currently serving patients as Psychiatric Outreach Nurse and Addictions Nurse within The Ottawa Hospital and the Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre in Nepean, Ontario, Canada.
Reena Bhandari graduated with her Nursing Diploma in 1988 from Dawson College in Westmount, Quebec. Since graduating she has completed a number of advanced training courses, and is a Certified Mental Health and Addiction Registered Nurse. She is currently working towards her Masters as a health coach, and is licensed with Canadian Association of Integrative Nutrition as a Health Coach. As a Health Coach Reena uses Cognitive behavioral, Dialectical behaviour therapy techniques with ancient Ayurveda techniques to help clients transform their old lifestyles into their best health, permanently. She has also acquired license in Mental Health First Aid as a trainer and teaches in her community against stigma of Mental Health.
To keep up to date with the latest advances and developments in her field, Reena maintains professional memberships with the Ontario Nurses Association, the Canadian Nurses Association of Ontario, and the Canadian Mental Health Association, where she works as a liaison nurse.
Working within The Ottawa Hospital and Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre, Reena works with the severe and persistent mentally ill population who are either homeless or at risk of being evicted. She provides support to clients and other community partners in dealing with their clients psychiatric diagnosis, works with clients suffering from Concurrent Diagnosis, and provides crisis counseling for mental health and addictions. Reena attributes her success to her compassionate, flexible nature, her drive to never give up, and her passion for helping others. When she is not assisting patients, Reena likes to relax by gardening and cooking.
