Following his graduation, Dr. Mahnensmith subsequently completed his internship, residency and fellowship all at Yale-New Haven Hospital. In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Mahnensmith has also served as a Professor at Yale University, Duke University, and Brown University. To keep up to date with the latest advances in his field, Dr. Mahnensmith maintains a professional membership with the American Medical Directors Association.
For his excellence, Dr. Mahnensmith has won numerous awards throughout his long and distinguished career, and has engaged in multiple lectures over the years. Dr. Mahnensmith is renowned as an expert in primary care, diabetes, hypertension, kidney diseases, lipid disorders and geriatric care. He holds dual board certification in Internal Medicine and in Nephrology by the American Board of Internal Medicine. Dr. Mahnensmith attributes his success to genuinely caring for his patients, the great mentors he has had, his faith, and the unwavering support of his family. When he is not working, Dr. Mahnensmith enjoys spending quality time with his wife, grandchildren, and dogs, as well as gardening, and studying the Bible.
