Dr. Welker graduated from the University of Alabama School of Medicine with his Medical Degree in 1980. He then attended Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center for his postgraduate training and subsequently served in the U.S. Army from 1980 until 1987. Prior to medical school, Dr. Welker received his Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, in 1974, followed by his Master of Science Degree in Biochemistry from the University of Alabama in 1976. Dr. Welker is board certified in Family Medicine, and stays current in his field through his professional memberships with the American Medical Association and the American Academy of Family Medicine. Dr. Welker attributes his great success to his faith, family support, and good education. When he is not assisting patients, Dr. Welker enjoys football, fitness, and listening to music.
