President Nursultan Nazarbayev, the man credited with building Kazakhstan into the burgeoning economy it is today, is now featured on the country’s currency.
The face of the 76-year-old Nazarbayev is on the 10,000 tenge (worth about about $30).
Kazakhstan’s central bank revealed the new note earlier this week. It will begin circulation on Dec. 1 to mark the 25th anniversary of Kazakhstan’s independence from the former Soviet Union.
The banknote also feature images of skyscrapers built in Astana under the President’s direction.
Nazarbayev has run Kazakhstan, the largest nation in Central Asia, since 1989. There are also several monuments of President Nazabayev throughout the country.
