Coontz has been in practice for more than 40 years and is currently serving patients as a Dentist limiting his practice to Dental Sleep Medicine services for the Koala Center for Sleep Disorders in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He is also an adjunct faculty member with the University of New Mexico.
Dr. Eric J. Coontz graduated with his Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree in 1976 at Loyola University in Chicago, Illinois. This was followed by a residency in Periodontics, also completed at Loyola University School of Dentistry. Alongside his practice, Dr. Coontz also serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor and Faculty at the University of New Mexico.
Dr. Coontz is a member of the the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, the American Sleep and Breathing Academy, the American Academy of Physiologic Medicine and Dentistry, the Academy of Sleep Disorders Disciplines, the International Academy of Physiologic Aesthetics and the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain. To keep up to date in his challenging field, Dr. Coontz devotes at least one hundred hours of continuing education each year. He believes that his success is due to his perseverance dedication, commitment to continuing education, as well as, treating his patients as if they were family members. When he is not working, Dr. Coontz enjoys traveling and seeing new parts of America and the world.
