She is a highly trained and qualified internist and pediatrician with expertise in all facets of her work. Dr. Poppinga has been in practice for over four years and is currently serving patients at Avera Medical Group Pierre in Pierre, South Dakota.
Dr. Poppinga attended the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences where she graduated with her Medical Degree. She then trained at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine, and Children’s Mercy Hospital in internal medicine and pediatrics. Dr. Poppinga holds dual board certification by the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Pediatrics. In addition, she maintains professional memberships with the South Dakota State Medical Association and the American Academy of Pediatrics, and has earned the coveted title of Fellow of the American College of Physicians, and Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Dr. Poppinga engages in local lecturing and public speaking and is on the clinical faculty teaching physician assistant students at the School of South Dakota. She attributes her success to her hard work, dedication, and her continued desire to help her patients. When she is not working, Dr. Poppinga enjoys spending time with her daughter, and fishing.
