Churgay, MD, FAAFP, Academic Family Medicine Physician, to their prestigious organization with her upcoming publication in The Leading Physicians of the World. She is a highly-trained and qualified family medicine physician with expertise in all facets of her work, especially community healthcare and doing procedures. Dr. Churgay has been practicing for over 35 years and is currently serving patients at The Hope Medical Clinic in Ypsilanti, Michigan. The medical clinic serves over 2800 people annually with free health care and prescription medication samples. Furthermore, Dr. Churgay lectures on gout and pseudogout (CPPDD)  in the Eastern Michigan University Physician Assistant Program along with publishing several review articles on family medicine related topics, original research about medical students, residents, faculty physicians with disabilities and maternal fever during labor, and a curriculum for managing skin lesions.

Dr. Churgay received her Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Michigan College of Literature, Science and the Arts in 1985 and her medical degree at the University of Michigan Medical School in 1988 as a student in the prestigious University of Michigan Integrated Premedical-Medical School (Inteflex) Program in which she earned her medical degree in six years instead of the traditional eight.  She subsequently completed a family medicine residency program at the University of Michigan Department of Family Medicine in 1991. She completed the Michigan State University Primary Care Faculty Development Fellowship from 1992-93 and specialized in curriculum development. Dr. Churgay is certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and earned the coveted title of Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians. Additionally, she remains an active member of the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine (STFM), Michigan Academy of Family Physicians (MAFP), and the American Medical Association (AMA). Dr. Churgay feels that her successful career is attributed to being self-motivated, having a love for teaching and learning, and caring deeply about her fellow human beings. Prior to her current medical endeavors, she was a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Toledo Department of Family Medicine from 2008-11 and a Clinical Instructor and Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Michigan Department of Family Medicine from 1991-2002.  In her spare time, she enjoys reading and decorating her home.
