He is a highly trained and qualified Addiction Medicine Physician with a vast expertise in all facets of his work. Dr. Andersons has been in practice for over 40 years and is currently serving patients at his private practice located in Ontario, Canada, where he also practices regular family medicine. Furthermore, he works as Professor at the University of Toronto as an expert in addiction medicine. Dr. Andersons is the Director of the Alliance for Drug Free Canada, a business group working with the media against drug abuse, which he helped establish while working as CEO of Donwood Institute. In addition, Dr. Andersons is an underwater expert for the Canadian Navy.
Dr. Andersons received his Medical degree in 1972 from Dalhousie University, where he also served his internship and family residency. He is certified by the American Board of Addiction Medicine (ABAM), is a Fellow of the American Society of Addiction Medicine (FASAM) and a Fellow of the College of Family Physicians of Canada (FCFP). He is also a member of The College of Family Physicians Canada (CCFP), and has lectured for the United Nations on illicit drugs, misuse of prescription drugs, and alcohol misuse in society. Additionally, Dr. Andersons maintains professional memberships with the Canadian Society of Addiction Medicine (CSAM), the American Society of Addiction Medicine, and the Ontario Medical Association. Dr. Andersons retired as a lieutenant from the Canadian Forces, and was a diving officer on HMCS Scotian, and HMCS York. Dr. Andersons attributes his success to wanting to make a change for a good cause. When he is not working, Dr. Andersons enjoys scuba diving, skiing, swimming, and hiking.
