To help solve the July 10 murder of Seth Rich (pictured), Republican lobbyist Jack Burkman says he’s offering a $100,000 reward—more than double the current reward—to motivate someone to step forward.

The Republican lobbyist says he’s offering a $100,000 reward—more than double the current reward—to motivate someone to step forward to help solve the murder of Seth Rich, 27, a staffer who worked for the Democratic National Committee (DNC).
On July 10, Mr. Rich was murdered on the streets of northwest Washington D.C. He had been walking home from a local pub to his apartment when he was shot several in the back.
D.C. police put up a $25,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest and conviction. Then last month, Wikileaks, hinting that the murder may be politically motived, offered another $20,000 reward, suggesting that Mr. Rich’s death may be tied to a wider scheme involving DNC email leaks. Wikileaks has not confirmed or denied that Mr. Rich was the source of the emails or if the reward it is offering is connected to that.
The total reward money being offered is now $145,000.
“There are too many dimensions to the tragedy and none seem to make any sense. I hope the $100,000 in additional money will finally get to the truth of what happened here and will either debunk the conspiracy theories or validate them,” says Burkman. “But for the sake of Mr. Rich’s parents, family, friends, co-workers and the D.C. community at large, the murder needs to be solved and those responsible held accountable.”
Burkman’s $100,000 reward is for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible.
“This is not about politics” Burkman said. “As a part of the D.C. political family, I am doing what I can to help solve this murder. And I hope the media will spread the world.”
Mr. Burkman’s firm represents a long list of defense contractors and has made the lists of top lobby firms many times over the years.
