Prolific filmmaker Steve Brown is bringing to life the rise of Bohemia’s greatest warrior, Jan Zizka, in the aptly entitled movie JAN ZIZKA, to be shot in the Czech Republic.
Jan Zizka was a 15th century Czech knight who led the first real Protestant uprising in Europe. He headed a mob of peasants and militia forces and fought against professionally organized crusades while partially blind. Amazingly, despite these apparent impediments, Zizka was undefeated on the battlefield. Victories led Zizka to the honor of defending Prague against the newly appointed king of Bohemia.
“Zizka’s accomplishments have gone largely unrecognized and unrealized outside of the Czech Republic,” says Steve Brown. “What an amazing warrior. And the world will now know his name and unbelievable accomplishments.”
In Prague, there’s a huge monument to honor Jan Zizka. The statue sits on top of a hill and has Zizka on a horse. At over 27 feet tall, the horse statue is the largest in the world.
The film will be shot over the next two years in English and Czech, following the rise of a young Zizka.
The Steve Brown film is written and directed by Petr Jakl and distributed by MAP Global Holding. It is co-written by Kevin Bernhardt and Ivo Trajkov.
Along with Steve Brown, Petr Jakl and William Morris Endeavor are producers.
