HITO-Communications Inc. (President: Yuichi Kakiuchi) to provide Japan’s “luxury limousine service” dedicated to foreign tourists visiting Japan. The company is entering the inbound tourism industry mainly for the wealthy class. Service started on June 20, 2016 (Mon).
The newly launched “JAPAN LIMOUSINE SERVICE” now provides premium services with high levels of hospitality, unlike the existing tourist limousine rental companies. The company will make best use of its human resources, such as the Group’s approximately 800 licensed guides and tour escorts working in and outside Japan. These tourism professionals will accompany tourists in the limousine as tour concierges, leading private and high quality tours. The company will provide seasonal courses independently developed by customizing for customers’ needs as well as optimal quality tours of Japan throughout the year. Clients will be able to visit selected restaurants and sightseeing spots, but also have the chance to experience optional tours that introduce traditional culture/performing arts, sports, entertainment, cool Japan, martial art, spa treatment, and more. This reflects a trend among tourists to focus less on “goods” and more on “activities.”
The Japanese government is aiming to double the number of tourists visiting Japan to 40 million people before 2020 and working to ensure that these tourists visit many areas of Japan in the inbound market. However, the “shopping spree” boom is now settling down a little and the needs and behavior of tourists visiting Japan are changing.
Firstly, there is an increase in tourists’ desire to prioritize activities over goods. Secondly, it is more and more common for FITs (Foreign Individual Tourists) to be arranging their trips for themselves. The future issue is how much the country can respond to the diverse and changing needs of wealthy travelers, who make up a quarter of tourism consumption amount of the world. In “Tourism Vision Implementation Program 2016,*1” instituted by the Japanese government in May this year, there is a passage about the importance of introducing and preparing private limousines for the wealthy class. All vehicles come with a system that automatically plays tour guide contents in five different languages. This information has been independently developed by domestic professional tour escorts and plays each time the limousines pass GPS-compatible sightseeing spots previously tapped in the map on the website. Tour guides can be viewed on the customer monitor in the car and via a dedicated tablet can be enjoyed. Tablet-based tour information can be also used outside the car by connecting to a dedicated smartphone.

Our professional staff responds to customers’ needs in multiple languages at the contact center, proposing seasonal attractive courses and optimal quality guides to Japan throughout the year. We prepare detailed tour itineraries independently. We also select high class boutiques and restaurants listed in the Michelin guidebook for the customers’ needs; these options are available under Japan Limousine Service’s special plan.
