WEDNESDAY NIGHT RIVALRY: BLACKHAWKS-FLYERS – WEDNESDAY AT 8 P.M. ET ON NBCSN
The Blackhawks and Flyers square off on Wednesday Night Rivalry in a rematch of the 2010 Stanley Cup Final. The Blackhawks enter this week’s action after sweeping a home-and-home series with the New York Islanders. The Flyers will complete a home-and-home series with the Florida Panthers tonight. The Flyers won the most recent meeting between the two teams by a score of 4-1 in Philadelphia last March, as Giroux and Wayne Simmonds scored for the Flyers.
This is just the fourth meeting between the two teams in Philadelphia since the 2010 Stanley Cup Final. Chicago defeated Philadelphia in six games, the first of the Blackhawks’ three championships in six seasons, as Patrick Kane scored the Cup-clinching goal in overtime of Game 6 in The City of Brotherly Love.
Pre-game coverage on NHL Live will include an interview with NHL Live’s Kathryn Tappen and Claude Giroux, as well as a look back at the 2010 Stanley Cup Final.
Mike ‘Doc’ Emrick (play-by-play), Eddie Olczyk (analyst) and Pierre McGuire (‘Inside-the-Glass’ analyst) will have the call from the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pa.
LIGHTNING-RED WINGS – TOMORROW NIGHT AT 7:30 P.M. ET ON NBCSN
The Red Wings look to avenge their first-round loss to the Lightning in the 2015 postseason with a win tomorrow night in Detroit. The Lightning earned the distinction as the first team to win in the NHL’s new 3-on-3 overtime format, as defenseman Jason Garrison scored on a breakaway to give the Lightning a 3-2 win in their season-opener on Thursday night. The Red Wings opened their season this past weekend with wins against Toronto and Carolina. Detroit forward Justin Abdelkader scored four goals and added an assist in the two wins to earn NHL First Star of the Week honors. Last season, the Lightning outlasted the Red Wings in a seven-game first-round series, as Ben Bishop recorded a shutout in a 2-0 Game 7 win in Tampa.
Chris Cuthbert (play-by-play) and Brian Engblom (‘Inside-the-Glass’ analyst) will provide live commentary from Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, Mich.
