300-grc-boston-14300-grc-boston-14GSMI is excited to announce Brian Barnier, Co-Chair of the OCEG Steering Committee and principal at ValueBridge Advisors will deliver the keynote address at the GRC Summit Boston this March 4-6, 2014.

“For decades, organizations have addressed performance management, risk management and compliance management in fragmented, unproductive ways,” says Brian Barnier, Co-Chair of the OCEG Steering Committee and principal at ValueBridge Advisors. “There remains a gap between corporate governance and executive strategy; a gap between executive strategy and managerial operations. These gaps are often the cause of missed systemic risks, legal compliance issues and opportunities for unethical conduct.”

This year, along with updates to the OCEG Red Book, OCEG will provide new guidance in the OCEG Black Book – Secrets of Principled Performance in a Dynamic Economy. The OCEG Steering Committee is organizing in February 2014 and will be led by co-chairs Brian Barnier, Paul Liebman and Tony Miller.

Brian Barnier is an OCEG Fellow and past chair of the Achievement Awards judging panel. He brings a perspective on governance and risk management from the investment world to the board room to senior management to the technology on which companies are increasingly dependent for success. In addition to his service to OCEG, he serves as a co-chair of the International Corporate Governance Network’s Corporate Risk Oversight Committee and is the lead author of The Operational Risk Handbook (Harriman House, Great Britain). By day, he is a principal/member at ValueBridge Advisors focused on corporate valuation growth through business model clarity.

“With SP500 company revenue down about 11% from its trend since 1995, closing the revenue gap is critical. Yet, with resources tight, successful turn-around must be thoughtfully risk-managed. This new OCEG guidance is designed to make it easier for boards and management to create clear principles, rather than churn, as guideposts to growth.”

As GRC evolves into GRC 3.0, integration and operationalization across business strategy is key. This year’s Summit will highlight best practices and lessons learned from leading companies in risk and compliance.  The program has 4 unique session tracks including: Audit Management, Risk Management, Compliance and IT/Data Security.   The Summit gathers leaders in the industry including OCEG fellows Brian Barnier and Michael Rasmussen to share thoughts on operational risk management, risk appetite and the future of GRC.
