"Snake and Mongoo$e" starring Jesse Williams and Richard Blake, opens in select theaters beginning August 9th.

“Snake and Mongoo$e” starring Jesse Williams and Richard Blake, opens in select theaters beginning September 6th.

“Snake & Mongoo$e,” the feature film about how drag racing became famous and the rivalry and friendship between the sports’ two biggest stars, blazes into the heart of racing country for a red carpet premiere event that’s primed to bring a part of Hollywood to The Brickyard.

The movie, which stars Jesse Williams (Grey’s Anatomy) as “The Snake” and Richard Blake (Dragonball; Evolution) as “The Mongoo$e” and features Noah Wyle, Tim Blake Nelson and Fred Dryer, has opened in limited engagement in the U.S. and will take Indianapolis by storm with the premiere event benefitting the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS).

A legend in the automotive world, Indianapolis and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway has long been held as one of racing’s most historic towns and played a major role in the real-life rivalry of McEwan and Prudhomme.

“We felt that there was no better way to bring out the racing spirit than to hold an event in Indianapolis” says Robin Broidy, “Snake & Mongoo$e” producer. “This city’s passion and the direct connection to the story we tell is sure to take ‘Snake & Mongoo$e’ to the next level.”

The premiere will feature a red carpet walk before the movie, an exclusive screening of the movie and an after-party with Don “the Snake” Prudhomme, Tom “the Mongoo$e” McEwen, Indy-born actor Ashley Hinshaw, who portrays Prudhomme’s wife, Lynn Prudhomme, and Richard Blake, who plays McEwen all in attendance.

Members of the production team, including producer Robin Broidy and executive producer Elliott Broidy will also attend the film’s screening. LLS executives, as well as ambassadors for LLS, will also walk the red carpet prior to the screening.

Ron Capps from Don Schumacher Racing and NAPA Auto Parts Dodge Charger Funny Car driver and former team member of Prudhomme’s race team has also been confirmed as attending. Capps makes a cameo appearance in the film alongside Alexis DeJoria of Kalitta Motorsports and Tequila Patrón Toyota Camry Funny Car driver. Dejoria will attend the film’s premiere and the two drivers will compete in the Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals.

The iconic yellow and red haulers and the ‘Cuda and Duster Funny Cars raced by Prudhomme and McEwen will be on display together at the Regal Shiloh Crossing Stadium 18 for the movie premiere as well as at the Lucas Oil Raceway during the U.S. Nationals. This will be mark the second time the two cars have been viewed together outside of California in more than 40 years.

The event is followed by the Chevrolet Performance U. S. Nationals at Lucas Oil Raceway, where the bulk of ticket sales will benefit patients fighting blood cancers.

The “Snake and Mongoo$e” Indianapolis premiere event will take place on Thursday, August 29th 2013 at the Regal Shilo Crossing in Avon, IN. The red carpet event will start at 5:00 p.m. with the screening starting at 5:30 p.m.

The film opens nationwide September 6, 2013.

Set in the heyday of drag racing and based on a true story, “Snake & Mongoo$e” uncovers for the first time on the big screen the compelling rivalry and breakthrough sports marketing accomplishments of Don “the Snake” Prudhomme and Tom “the Mongoo$e” McEwen—including a Hot Wheels partnership that proved game-changing for all parties.

The film also features Noah Wyle, Tim Blake Nelson, Fred Dwyer, John Heard, Ashley Hinshaw, Ian Ziering, Leonardo Nam, Kim Shaw and Julie Mond.
