“Snake and Mongoo$e” starring Jesse Williams and Richard Blake, opens in select theaters beginning August 9th.

“Snake & Mongoo$e,” the drag racing biopic detailing the sports rise in popularity, is screeching into the World Class Automotive Film & Arts Festival for a special screening honoring the automotive industry.

The film, which stars Jesse Williams (Grey’s Anatomy) as Don “The Snake” Prudhomme and Richard Blake (Dragonball; Evolution) as Tom “The Mongoo$e” McEwen and features Noah Wyle, Tim Blake Nelson and Fred Dryer, will hold a special screening at the inaugural event, with a Q&A session with producer Robin Broidy immediately following the film.

“The ‘Snake and Mongoo$e’ story plays such a pivotal role in automotive history,” says Robin Broidy, “Snake & Mongoo$e” producer. “We’re honored to be included in such an important event for the automotive industry.”

Based on a true story and set in the heyday of drag racing, “Snake & Mongoo$e” focuses on the compelling rivalry and breakthrough sports marketing accomplishments of Don “the Snake” Prudhomme and Tom “the Mongoo$e” McEwen—including a Hot Wheels partnership that proved to be a game-changer for all parties.

“We looked for films that had historical significance in the automotive world,” said Fred LoBianco of World Class Motoring. “The presentation utilizes actual historical footage, the personalities, and the real-world issues to perfectly convey the feeling of that era of drag racing, which was a perfect fit for our ‘history-rich’ automotive film festival.”

A three day exhibition, the World Class Automotive Film & Arts Festival will take place August 15-17 at the iconic Golden State theater in Monterey, Calif. The event will be highlighted by film showings, documentaries and webisodes that chronicle the significant milestones in automotive history and the automotive lifestyle.

“Besides being based on the lives of two legendary racing figures, we believe the movie tells a great story about friendship and overcoming adversity,” says Elliott Broidy, executive producer of ‘Snake & Mongoo$e.’ “We’re so proud it is being shown at the World Class Automotive Film & Arts Festival in Monterey.”

“Snake and Mongoo$e” will screen at the World Class Automotive Film & Arts Festival on Thursday, August 15, 2013 at 8:30 p.m, at the Golden State Theater.

The film also features John Heard, Ashley Hinshaw, Ian Ziering, Leonardo Nam, Kim Shaw and Julie Mond.

Tickets for the World Class Automotive Film & Arts Festival are available for $20 per day or $50 for a 3-day festival pass and can be purchased at www.automotivefilmfestival.com
