“Snake & Mongoo$e,” the drag racing biopic detailing the sports rise in popularity, is racing into Detroit, famously known as the Motor City, for a red carpet premiere that’s set to bring Hollywood to the shores of Lake St. Clair.
The film, which stars Jesse Williams (Grey’s Anatomy) as “The Snake” and Richard Blake (Dragonball; Evolution) as “The Mongoo$e” and features Noah Wyle, Tim Blake Nelson and Fred Dryer, will hold a premiere event in Detroit ahead of a wider release in September.
A legendary automotive town, a red carpet premiere in Detroit became a natural choice to host an event for the drag racing film.
“Detroit has such a rich history in racing and the automotive industry,” says Robin Broidy, “Snake & Mongoo$e” producer. “It’s only fitting that the city serves as a launch pad for the film.”
In addition to the Red Carpet, the event will feature the iconic Hot Wheels Yellow and Red Haulers and the Cuda and Duster Funny Cars raced by Prudhomme and McEwen on display together in one of the first appearances outside of California in 40 years.
Expected at the event are members of the Detroit Metro Labor Council, the International Assoc. of Machinists and the building and construction trades unions.
“We are thrilled that Detroit is hosting the Red Carpet,” says Elliott Broidy, Chairman of Event Solutions (ESI), a Troy-based ESI provides world-class logistics for new car introductions and vehicle launch activities, and executive producer of “Snake & Mongoo$e.” “This is a great nostalgia movie. I look forward to being at the event.”
