Tampa dermatologist Forman dermatology and skin cancer instituteFor those diagnosed with basal cell carcinoma, one Tampa dermatologist is offering a noninvasive radiotherapy treatment that minimizes the patient’s risk of scarring. When treating the most common form of skin cancer, Dr. Seth Forman uses the SRT-100.

“I am able to treat a patient skin’s cancer effectively without leaving their skin full of scars with the SRT-100,” says the Tampa dermatologist.

Forman states that the SRT-100 treats skin cancers, like basal cell carcinoma, that most commonly appear on exposed areas that patients do not want scarred, like the face, neck and hands. The nonsurgical radiotherapy for skin cancer nearly eliminates scarring and therefore, any need for skin reconstruction.

Currently, Forman is the only board-certified dermatologist in the United States to use SRT-100 to treat skin cancer. The noninvasive skin cancer treatment has just recently made its way overseas after first being sold to a hospital in Hong Kong in July 2011.

The Tampa dermatologist and the SRT-100 technology has appeared on local Tampa news broadcasts as well as CBS’s popular medical show, “The Doctors.” The show’s co-host and renowned surgeon called the SRT-100 technology “a real game changer.”

While he offers effective and minimally invasive skin cancer treatments, he strongly encourages individuals take proper measures to protect themselves from the sun in order to minimize the risk of skin cancer and aging of the skin. The Tampa dermatologist also suggests individuals visit a dermatologist at least once a year and lookout for suspicious moles or areas of the skin.
