Weighing in at 1.2 tons, the 9 foot sangria pitcher at Sangria Fest will be filled with 758 liters of wine, 63 liters of brandy, 63 liters of triple sec, 126 liters of simple syrup and 505 pounds of fruit. And if all goes well, it will become the world’s largest sangria. The last attempt at the world’s largest sangria was 500 liters.
The attempt to break the GUINNESS WORLD RECORD™ happens on Saturday at Ceviche Tapas Bar & Restaurant’s Sangria Fest.
An official from the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™, called an Adjudicator, will be on hand to certify the world record.
Hillsborough Community College culinary students hope to be a part of the record books: They will help chop up the 505 pounds of fruit, which was donated by Sweetbay Supermarkets.
In addition to witnessing the mixology of the world’s largest sangria, there will be food, all-you-can-drink sangrias and exclusive ‘How to Make Ceviche’ seminars.
Admission to Sangria Fest is $20 per person in advance or $25 at the door. Ceviche will donate 15 percent of the sales from Sangria Fest to the American Red Cross in support of Oklahoma Disaster Tornado Relief.
