Tampa dermatologist Dr. Seth Forman is continuing his work with groundbreaking technology, as shown on Monday night’s 5:30 p.m. WFTS-TV ABC Action News broadcast. In an interview with Linda Hurtado, Forman highlighted the success he’s had using UV phototherapy treatment through the PsoriaLight device to reverse the effects of vitiligo.
The clip introduced Lisa Arias, a local woman who has struggled with vitiligo since having children. After visiting the Tampa dermatologist three times a week for a month and a half, Arias’ skin has shown great improvement, which was highlighted in the ABC Action News segment.

Vitiligo is a skin condition where the cells that produce brown pigment, called melanocytes, are attacked by immune cells, leaving lighter blotches of skin. This skin condition is most commonly found on the face, elbows, knees, hands and feet.
Extremely difficult to treat, topical drugs and ointments are often prescribed, and often, dermatologists, like Forman, use phototherapy to treat vitiligo. The Tampa dermatologist uses the PsoriaLight device to deliver Deep UV LED targeted phototherapy to effected areas of the skin.
“Essentially, these wavelengths, in laymen’s terms, can scare away the inflammatory cells that are causing the change to the skin,” says the Tampa dermatologist.
Forman has used the PsoriaLight device to successfully treat other skin conditions, such as alopecia areata, psoriasis and eczema.
