Hairspray, High Heels and Second Hand Smoke

"Hairspray, High Heels and Second Hand Smoke" by Frank Meyner

In “Hairspray, High Heels, and Second Hand Smoke” (ISBN 1478195630), experienced cosmetologist Frank Meyner shares his stories from behind the chair. Meyner’s memoir offers readers an interesting look at the career of a hairdresser and the start of one of America’s biggest high-end retailers, Neiman Marcus.

With his cutting shears in his hand, Meyner moved from his tiny West Texas town to Fort Worth, completely unaware of what lay ahead for him in the big city. At 20-years-old, he started at Neiman Marcus, working as the assistant to well-known stylist Phillip Trotter. From there, he entered the high-society world of Fort Worth.

In “Hairspray, High Heels, and Second Hand Smoke,” Meyner details how he opened his own salon, which is still open nearly three decades later.  He shares the stories of his customers and colleagues in a tribute to thank them for the love and generosity they have shown him over the years.

“Sometimes we need an escape from our everyday lives to a world that is filled with good-hearted, genuine and generous people that have made a difference,” says Meyner. “This world still exists in Fort Worth.”

Meyner hopes “Hairspray, High Heels, and Second Hand Smoke” reminds readers about the goodness of mankind that seems to be forgotten in the hustle and bustle of daily life.

“Hairspray, High Heels, and Second Hand Smoke” is available for sale online at Amazon.com and other channels.

About the Author: A cosmetologist for the past 37 years, Frank Meyner earned his certification at the Glen and Lottie’s Pivot Point School of Cosmetology. He has owned his own salon, Frank Meyner’s Mane Event, for 28 years in Fort Worth, where he lives.
