Together, he and his wife Karen were the proud parents of five daughters. They prayed that God would bless them with a son, a call that was eventually answered after two decades of marriage. Yet at the tender age of 14 months, their son Junior died in a hospital on January 8, 2003 while being treated for a common illness.
The hospital’s cause of death would be listed as a brain tumor but Junior’s parents were unconvinced and suspected the medical staff was covering up their own medical errors and misdiagnosis.
“Just before my son died, I softly spoke into his ear, saying to him, ‘Son, as long as I live, I will not rest until I uncover the truth as to the real cause of your death,’” says Collins. “Motivated by that promise and the profound love I had for Junior, I ignited a relentless and burning desire inside of me to find and uncover the actual truth about the cause of his death.”
After his own independent investigation, the father discovers their son’s true cause of death was from medical errors and the Respiratory Syncytial Virus known as RSV, this virus is a common cold-like illness that can be deadly for infants if left untreated and undiagnosed. As Collins would learn, there are between 44,000 and 98,000 deaths in hospitals each year due to doctor negligence and medical errors in hospitals all across America.
Devastated by the death of his infant son, Collins fights back against the medical establishment. He enlisted lawyers and the professional analysis of an independent medical examiner. He spent months discerning the real cause of Junior’s death. The events of this book are real, though for privacy reasons, Collins has changed the names of all doctors, hospitals, medical staff and lawyers involved with the case.

About the Author: Zebedee Collins has been a father since 1981. He is a Baptist minister who earned his theology certification from Victorious Life Bible Institute in Kansas City, Mo. in 2004.
