1 Voice Foundation - Family support for children with cancerEvery weekday, 46 children are diagnosed with cancer in the United States. Raising money for St. Baldrick’s Foundation, 46 cancer moms from around the country raised funds and sponsorship dollars to meet on July 29, 2012 in Hollywood, Calif. to have their heads shaved in honor of their child on treatment. The program has raised $776,220.00 since its inception in 2010.

A Tampa cancer mom, Christine Dean, participated this year in honor of her 2-year-old daughter, Izzy, who is fighting Leukemia. Christine arrives back in Tampa on Southwest Airlines flight #3394, scheduled to arrive at Tampa International Airport at 12:35 a.m. Wednesday morning. She will be greeted by a large group of fellow Tampa cancer moms anxious to celebrate her participation in the Shave for the Brave and to see her bald shaven head.

The group of pediatric cancer moms will be available for interviews prior to Christine’s arrival. This is a great opportunity to film a community story and help raise awareness for children battling cancer in the Tampa Bay area.

1Voice Foundation provides family support programs and services for children with cancer. We raise funding and awareness for pediatric cancer research and are active on Capitol Hill for Legislative Issues concerning our patient population. We are launching an initiative to open the first school in the United States for children with cancer.
