Houston-based technology start-up 'Novusport' wins place to prestigious Consumer Electronics Association Line Shows

(PR NewsChannel) / June 22, 2012 / HOUSTON

Novusport has been selected as a finalist to compete at the Eureka Park Challenge to be held during the Consumer Electronic Association (CEA) Line Shows in New York City, June 26 – 28. Novusport is a new social media concept created by local sports fans and entrepreneurs, Hugo Aguilar and Daniel Iturbe, while working out of their garage.

Novusport, an innovative iPhone app and social media website, will allow users to create fantasy sports-style statistics that allow them to share their personal “Unique Sports Graph” with family and friends, and even compete with other users across the globe. The patent-pending algorithm measures the user’s performance in a variety of predefined sports activities and quantifies it based on ten key elements:  Ground Speed, Water Speed, Endurance, Strength, Vertical Jump, Accuracy, Courage, Balance, Novusport IQ and Popularity. To use the app, gamers perform a predefined NOVUSPORT activity (ActivR), which they video‐record and upload via a Smartphone.

Novusport is one of ten applicants selected to present at the conference. Founder & President Hugo Aguilar says, “A win here will set Novusport on a direct route for a dynamic debut and potentially catapult our creation onto the marketplace.”  He continues, “The timing of this event couldn’t have been better.  The Olympics are around the corner and with it, the desire for viewers to jump into as many sports as possible.  Novusport will allow them to compete in their own Olympic-style game.”

“We want to equal the playing field when it comes to sports,” says Iturbe.  “And we want Novusport to bring people together.  Just for one example, rather than a gamer’s popularity being measured in just fans and likes, we want to reward gamers for doing good things for others too, like participating in a charity event through the Novusport platform”  Iturbe adds.
