Everyone has made, and consequently broken a New Year’s resolution. People give many different excuses as to why this process reoccurs every year, and many excuses reflect the blame on something other than their own inability to want to follow through. In “Unlock Your Cage” (ISBN 1463772750), Elaine La Monica Rigolosi explains that every person has the ability to follow through with whatever changes they want to make, and where that ability comes from.

The story in “Unlock Your Cage” is designed to help readers become aware of the changes that they wish to make in their lives. Rigolosi feels that people have to be able to tell themselves what to do and believe that the power to do those things lies within themselves. Whether it’s the decision to lose 10 pounds or to quit smoking, the reader is taught to be aware that the power to gain self-control and achieve personal goals lies within him or herself.

“My goal is to enable readers to visualize, think about and feel their own powers, and to put those powers into active thoughts that assist them in accomplishing personal lifestyle goals,” Rigolosi says.

Rigolosi shares the process of becoming aware of one’s inner strengths, and focuses them towards goals using the power of imagery. She feels the reader needs to understand that the “cage” is a personal and internal creation. Cage is also used as an acronym that allows Rigolosi to explain her process in four lessons. Commitment, awareness, goal setting and exercise each have a chapter of the book dedicated to helping readers understand the overall message. There is also a chapter after each lesson that poses as a talk with the author to identify and establish the main thoughts and meanings of each lesson.

In writing this book, Rigolosi has achieved one of her own personal goals. While she has a respected reputation in Academia, this is her first book that has been made available to the general public. She hopes that the lessons and techniques in “Unlock Your Cage” help readers break free and achieve their goals and resolutions.

“…The Great Wizard’s directives seem wise and true…applicable to various life challenges…[with] helpful techniques for achieving life goals….” “Rigolosi identifies…a universal obstacle to living one’s best life.”  —Kirkus Reviews
