“I Banish You Pink” (ISBN 1461106478), a children’s picture book by Lori Whited Neidlinger, tells the story of Jacey, a little girl who decides that the color pink has changed and that she no longer wants it around.
Jacey has always loved the color pink because it’s the color of some of her favorite things like rabbit noses, cotton candy and her favorite hippo t-shirt. But when a trip to the mall reveals that pink is being used for things she dislikes, such as clothes that say “Princess” and “Spoiled” in glittery letters, Jacey decides she’s had enough pink. Banishing the color to a hole in her backyard, Jacey begins burying every pink thing she has. When her mother shows Jacey how to save pink by creating a new look, pink is narrowly saved and Jacey learns that she can create her own style.
“Jacey’s story shows a positive way of dealing with the pressures of keeping up with the latest fashion trends while wanting to be true to yourself,” says Neidlinger.
Written to engage and encourage young readers, the book was inspired by the author’s shopping experience for her young niece. It features colorful illustrations and is targeted at children between the ages of six and nine.
“I Banish You Pink” is available for sale online at Amazon.com and other channels.
