Cynthia Smoot of Fox 13 news in Tampa, calls attention to Helen A. Rosburg and her notable animal rescue efforts through On the Wings of Angels Rescue. Founder and operator, Rosburg’s self-funded rescue group takes in dogs with nowhere left to go, rehabilitating and training them through obedience, play, structure, socialization and confidence building so they can begin a new life with new purpose.

The rescue site is located on Rosburg’s 130-acre estate in Odessa she calls “The Fiver.” Rosburg says that stands for “The Rockin, Rosburg, Rescue and Retirement Rancho.” Rosburg shares her life and home with a multitude of animals, including a house pig named Matilda.
The feature focuses on many aspects of Rosburg’s life, including a longtime love for animals and her hopes to redefine rescue, one dog at a time. A rebel WITH a cause, Rosburg would like to match her dogs with veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan. “A good companion is a good companion, it’s your friend, you talk to your friend,” says Rosburg. Having been through two bouts of breast cancer and a recent stroke, Rosburg recognizes the healing power of animal companions.
From collecting fast cars to being a successful author and publisher, Rosburg is a survivor. “Attitude. You have to have a positive attitude,” she says. Being born into one of the world’s wealthiest families, Rosburg grew up with many privileges, but those privileges also came with great expectations. Expectations that she has no doubt met through her animal rescue achievements.
