PR mistake? Kim Kardashian may pursue charges against the person who flour bombed her at a recent charity event.

Reality show star Kim Kardashian is taking a public relations win and potentially turning it completely around by pursuing charges against the so-called “flour bomber,” says a crisis management PR expert who represents high profile clients.

“Kim Kardashian has received a lot of sympathy–not because she was the target of a flour bomber, but because of the classy way she brushed off the flour bombing incident,” says Glenn Selig (@glennselig), founder of the crisis communications PR firm The Publicity Agency. “Now she’s apparently thinking about going after the person or person’s who flour bombed her. While it’s her legal right to do so, she is undermining the very element of what earned her praise. She’s no longer handling the incident in a classy way. She’s jumping into the gutter with the flour bomber.”

Selig believes that no one would have been surprised had Kim Kardashian lashed out at the “flower bomber” or made it clear at the time of the incident that she’d press charges because that is the Kim Kardashian the world knows: highly litigious, attack anyone who goes after her.

“The fact that she handled herself so beautifully and with such dignity in such an ugly situation really spoke well of her. People were perhaps thinking, ‘Wow that’s a classy way of handling that.’ The change of heart will likely reinforce the public’s perception of what they’ve long thought about Kim Kardashian.”

The incident happened last week while she was on the press line at an event that benefitted the Dress for Success Foundation for underpriviledged women.

Following the flour bombing incident, Kim Kardashian told TMZ that she wanted to keep the focus on the event and would not press charges. She received praise from her mother and the public for her quick rebound from the embarrassing stunt–even joking about it afterwards.

“I am so proud of my daughter for handling this situation so professionally and  with such poise!” Kris Jenner wrote on her blog. “Kim wasn’t phased by the attack and simply walked away from the red carpet, brushed herself off and headed right back  out!!”

But now, Kim Kardashian tells E!: “These women flew in from all over the country to be a part of this event, that are underprivileged women, that really got the shine taken away from them a little bit… I’m gonna definitely deal with it because it is not acceptable.”

TMZ reports that Kim Kardashian plans to contact police within the next few days.

In another development, according to the website CELEBUZZ!, PETA has offered to pay the flour bomber’s legal fees.

“We don’t believe Kim would be so shortsighted as to go after this woman,  but if she does, we’ll definitely look at how to maximize exposure to
the cruel fur industry, and that could mean defending the activist if she wishes,” CELEBUZZ! reports a PETA spokesperson as saying.

PETA has denied any involvement to the incident.
