Kate Metz takes a page out of her time in Africa and uses it as inspiration for her first novel, “Stiletto Safari” (ISBN 1467959049). “Stiletto Safari” is a fun filled, action packed, romantic comedy. The novel appeals to a broad audience and is a great read for anyone interested in an adventure.
A city girl, Zara leads a glamorous life in New York; however all that changes when her boyfriend is accused of insider trading. Thrown out of work by security and stalked by the press, Zara’s life can’t get any worse. Or can it? A snap decision sees Zara fleeing to Africa to work as a temporary wildlife volunteer.
In the heart of Africa, Zara struggles to accept her new life and yearns for the high glitz and glamour of her old one. Despite her feelings, she promises to stay for at least a month as a dorm mistress and teacher at a local school. Once she settles in her new routine, she realizes her troubles have only just begun.
“Stiletto Safari” shows how one can find themselves and truly understand who they are in the most unlikely of circumstances. Metz says the people she encountered while in Africa taught her a lot about serious issues such as poverty, protecting wildlife and helping others. She hopes her novel will have the same effect on readers.
“I wanted to show my readers, women in particular, that volunteering is fun, rewarding and accessible,” Metz says. “Anyone can get out there and try something completely different.”
A portion of the proceeds from “Stiletto Safari” will be donated to African wildlife conservation efforts and to a children’s home in Korea.
“Stiletto Safari” is available for sale online at Amazon.com and other channels.
