Those suffering from psoriasis, eczema and other skin conditions got some new information on how to treat their skin problems on WFTS ABC Action News’ 5 p.m. broadcast on Friday, February 24, 2012. Veteran anchor Linda Hurtado showcased Tampa dermatologist Dr. Seth Forman and his use of the innovative Psoria-Light™ technology.
Psoria-Light™ is a UV LED medical device used for treating psoriasis, eczema, vitiligo and other UV-treatable skin disorders. The Deep UV LED technology, which was originally developed for NASA and the U.S. military, delivers both NB-UVB and UVA light to affected areas, creating a less toxic and noninvasive treatment option. The Tampa dermatologist is the only doctor in the United States to use the technology.
Hurtado’s interview featured Forman and one of his patients who suffers from psoriasis, 8-year-old Ella Shelton. Forman treats the young girl with Psoria-Light™ in her arms and face where she is most affected. The Shelton family opted for Psoria-Light™ treatment when topical creams stopped working and the risks of harmful UV light were not acceptable. After learning of its minimal side effects and targeted UV therapy, they decided the Deep UV LED technology was the best option for Ella.
“Psoria-Light™ gives those living with psoriasis, eczema or other skin conditions a noninvasive, less toxic treatment option,” the Tampa dermatologist says. “We’re really excited to be able to offer this treatment at Forman Dermatology and Skin Cancer Institute.”
The ABC Action News segment continued Hurtado’s mission to cover new medical technologies for various diseases in hopes of helping viewers find a treatment that is right for them. Forman hopes that the piece on Psoria-Light™ allowed viewers affected by psoriasis, eczema, vitiligo and other skin conditions to know that they have another option when seeking treatment.
