“Recipes Menus Prayers for Family Gatherings” (ISBN 0615558135), a cookbook by Carolyn Anderson, offers a collection of contemporary and traditional recipes, perfect for family suppers or special occasions, and accompanying prayers of thanks.

As families are increasingly rediscovering the importance of shared family meals, Anderson’s book encourages them to pray together and share delicious food. Recipes are available for celebrating every possible occasion, divided into themed sections including “Father’s Day,” “Restoring Health” and “Baby Shower.” The book also includes prayers written for each occasion by the author’s cousins Marty Harris Butler, Tom Harris and Barbara Harris Youngflesh and illustrations by Vanessa Chow.

“Families are discovering the joy of gathering together around the dinner table,” says Anderson. “Praying together and sharing good food, this is what makes a family strong and happy.”

The cookbook features Anderson’s own family’s time-tested recipes for such favorites as apple curry soup, sweet potatoes with orange and cinnamon, strawberry spinach salad and Aunt Pearl’s chicken and dumplings. Written to engage and inspire family togetherness through food and prayer, the cookbook is intended to appeal to all readers seeking to encourage family togetherness with heritage, flavorful recipes.

“Recipes Menus Prayers for Family Gatherings” is available for sale online at and other channels.
