A proud supporter of U.S. armed forces members and their families, Ryan Malone of the Tampa Bay Lightning is joining the executive search committee in an Enable America program that will honor disabled veterans and wounded warriors at an upcoming Lightning game.

“I am extremely excited to join Enable America’s search committee,” Malone said. “The sacrifices made by all military members should never go unnoticed or under-appreciated. I look forward to helping honor and pay respects to all disabled veterans and wounded warriors who so valiantly protected our freedom. I would also like to thank Enable America for giving me the opportunity to be a part of this outstanding program.”
As part of a community partnership, the Lightning and Enable America are sponsoring a contest in which one representative each from the Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard and Marine Corps, will be recognized and hosted in a series of events at the Lightning game against the New York Islanders on March 24. The program is designed to highlight awareness of the needs of disabled veterans and wounded warriors, while also paying tribute to the sacrifices made by members of the U.S. Armed Services.
“We are proud that Ryan Malone is joining our search committee, this is just another example of his ongoing commitment to members of the U.S. military,” said Richard Salem, founder and CEO of Enable America. “Through this partnership with the Tampa Bay Lightning Foundation, we will be able to offer disabled veterans and wounded warriors a lifetime opportunity to go behind the scenes with their favorite NHL team.”
The contest is open through February 29 to all disabled veterans and wounded warriors nationwide, who are encouraged to register through the Enable America website, www.EnableAmerica.org. Malone will be part of the committee that will choose the winners. Each winner and a guest will also get access to the Lightning morning practice on game day.
“The Lightning Foundation is committed to supporting all sorts of wonderful causes in the Tampa Bay community, including the support of service-disabled veterans,” stated Heidi Hamlin, Lightning Foundation Coordinator. “We are delighted to partner with a community organization such as Enable America to enable our veterans to enjoy a top-notch Lightning game experience.”
Founded by Salem in 2002, Enable America is devoted to improving employment opportunities for people with disabilities, and will celebrate its ten-year anniversary in March. Enable America’s Community Connections, Business Connections, Career Mentoring Days, and VetConnect programs unite members of the disability community and business community to raise awareness and increase employment opportunities for the 54 million Americans with disabilities.
