Billie Jean Keith penned “A Kiss for a Yankee Dime” (ISBN 1463520743) as a result of being homesick for Mississippi while living overseas in London. Keith reminisces on her time in Mississippi through her characters and the adventures they share in this novel set in post-WWII America.

A young journalist comes back to his hometown after World War II and realizes it is exactly what it was like when he left. As he tries to change the town that never changes, he faces opposition and little support. The people he encounters along the way are so set in their ways of how things are supposed to be that it’s almost unbelievable to him.

Characters like Cordie, Jo Willa, Paw-Paw and Aunt Lottie represent a time period where traditions were highly valued, even if they were outdated. They show that their way of living in the small Mississippi town of Perry is the only way to live.

Keith bases all of her characters on people she has encountered over the years and acquaintances who left a lasting impact on her life. As the novel progresses, readers will be introduced to Southern realities, religion, humor and the Democratic party, while seeing how they all work together to create a story about change, love and war.

“A Kiss for a Yankee Dime” is available for sale online at Amazon.com and other channels.
