Zirker’s novel is about two couples that have been friends since childhood. After going through a tragedy that leaves each couple’s significant other dead, the remaining spouses must pull together for their respective children and families. Through it all, they find faith to make it through life without their best friends and spouses. Despite the immense amount of pressure put on their faith, they put their trust in the Lord to lead them through this difficult time.

The author uses her characters to teach forgiveness and the ability to find love again after a tragedy. She believes the authenticity of something like this possibly happening contributes to her audience’s acceptance of her novel.
