About the Author: Don Burzynski is a history columnist for the Marine Corps Times and Navy Times. His interest in military history began in 1959 when he began volunteering as an actor in centennial battle re-enactments of the Civil War, the American Revolution and the War of 1812. He has appeared on several shows for The History Channel, for which he contributed research, and in 1996, he won the prestigious Magruder Award from the Marine Corps Historical Foundation. He is currently at work on a new book, “Sea Soldiers in the War of 1812.”
