It’s mission accomplished for a public relations company that launched a campaign to help a cat with three legs that wandered to the door of its Tampa headquarters.
The PR company, Selig Multimedia, Inc., reunited the cat with its owner but not before the PR campaign produced calls and emails from across the United States and Canada and 20,000 YouTube views.
“Thanks to everyone who offered to help,” says Glenn Selig, president and CEO of Selig Multimedia, Inc., the PR company. “There are a lot of really wonderful, caring people in this world. And it’s reassuring to know that.”
Selig Multimedia, Inc. employees nicknamed the cat “Paws” after it showed up at the front door.
The company owns and operates the PR firm The Publicity Agency and the press release newswire PR NewsChannel. The company tapped its PR resources to help the cat with three legs and employees volunteered their time.
At first, the company tried calling various animal agencies and offices that might be able help but were told they couldn’t or wouldn’t guarantee that the cat would not be euthanized.
That’s when the company decided to adopt the cat with three legs as a client to find her owner, or find the cat a new home.
In less than 36 hours, the cat’s owner came forward and claimed the cat.
The cat’s name is Heather. Turns out, she had been abandoned a year ago and that’s when the new cat owner took her in. Heather is in good hands.
Selig wrote a blog post on the The Publicity Agency website about what he got from the experience.
“What I learned from this experience is that the vast majority of people are good and that people are willing to step up,” wrote Selig. “I wish every story had a happy ending.”
