A breakthrough treatment option is now available for skin cancer patients nationwide. Tampa’s NBC affiliate WFLA reported on the new non-surgical treatment, featuring Tampa dermatologist Dr. Seth Forman as one of the few doctors in the country to offer it.
“Patients are sick and tired of having surgery, they’re sick and tired of getting cut and they’re sick and tired of the bleeding,” the Tampa dermatologist told WFLA reporter Gayle Guyardo. “Our hope is that this painless, non-surgical procedure will encourage patients to keep coming in for monitoring and treatments until they are cured.”
The procedure uses a machine called SRT-100 that provides pinpointed low-dose radiotherapy, completing treatment in about 90 seconds. Forman says patients don’t experience any pain, there is no need for recovery time and it is covered by Medicare.
“The data supports that this treatment has just as good of a clearance rate as surgery,” says the Tampa dermatologist. “Now, I can treat my patients without requiring them to change their daily habits or even change their evening plans.”
Forman is one of the only board-certified dermatologists in the country to offer the SRT-100 low dose radiotherapy.
