Bubba Raceway Park Ocala to host two-day late model $10,000-to-win race: The 16th Annual Powell Memorial

Bubba ‘the Love Sponge®’ Clem, continues to prove his dedication to his new acquisition, Bubba Raceway Park Ocala. Infamous for his strong opinions as host of his nationally syndicated Bubba the Love Sponge® Show, Bubba continues to improve conditions and opportunities for racers at the historic dirt track.

Keeping to his vision and listening to the racers and fans, Bubba brings a hands-on approach and new level of excitement this weekend with the two day special event, continuing the tradition of honoring a family tragically lost.

What: The 16th Annual Powell Memorial, a two-day, $10,000-to-win late model racing event.

An event created to honor the family of James Powell, a driver and former owner of Bubba Raceway Park from 1981 to 1994. On June 17, 1995 a tragic plane crash in Gainesville, Fla. took the lives of Powell’s four year old twin daughters, Ashley and Nicole (whom the Bubba Raceway Park playground is dedicated to), Elizabeth Powell (mother), Buddy Powell (father), Loveda McNair (aunt), and CJ Powell (uncle).

When: Friday, June 3rd, 2011 – gates open at 4:30pm with races beginning at 8pm, Late Model qualifying; ‘Dash For Cash’ for Mini Stocks, Late Models, and Amsoil V-8 Thunderstocks; and heat races for the Mini Stocks and Amsoil V-8 Thunderstocks.
Saturday, June 4th, 2011 – gates open at 4:30pm with races beginning at 7pm, lower mains for all divisions, the Mini Stocks and Amsoil V-8 Thunderstocks features and then the Powell Memorial.
