Selig Multimedia’s PR NewsChannel announces partnership with Miles for Hope charity

National press release distribution company PR NewsChannel to support non-profit organization with its fundraising efforts.

TAMPA, Fla. / When Bob Gibbs was first diagnosed with brain cancer, he chose not to surrender to the disease. Instead, he formed Miles for Hope, a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising awareness and funding of brain tumor research, to help him with his fight.

Now, his organization is gaining a new new tool to spread his message nationwide. Selig Multimedia, parent company of award-winning press release distribution service PR NewsChannel, announced its partnership to support Miles for Hope in their national fundraising campaign.

“Forming this partnership with a national company like Selig Multimedia will help us bring awareness of brain tumor research all over the country,” says Gibbs. “We’re confident in their ability to reach national audiences in ways we never could alone.”

This partnership comes as Miles for Hope kicks off their nationwide Moving Toward a Cure® tour, a series of 5K walks in seven cities, including Orlando, Los Angeles, Denver, Boston, Buffalo, Atlanta and Grand Rapids. The next event is scheduled for February 12, 2011 in Orlando.

Miles for Hope is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to raising awareness and funding for brain tumor research and providing travel assistance to patients enrolled in clinical trials. Based in Clearwater, Florida, Bob and Barbara Gibbs founded Miles for Hope after Bob was diagnosed with a primary brain tumor on May 16, 2004. His treatment options were limited and in 2008, his tumor worsened to Grade III.  As devastating as this was, he now qualified for a promising brain tumor vaccine trial at UCLA Medical Center. Miles for Hope’s goal is to raise enough funds to expand the current clinical trials to include Grade II tumors and pediatric brain tumor patients, giving the 200,000 people a year diagnosed with tumors the hope Bob didn’t have.

The event series allows people numerous ways to get involved. For those who can’t physically participate, the Miles for Hope website (http://www.MilesForHope.org) offers a virtual participation option with live video feed. Visitors can also register to participate or volunteer, donate funds or organize their own local event from the interactive website. For a complete list of Moving Toward a Cure® current dates and participation options, visit www.MilesForHope.org/events.

President and CEO of Selig Multimedia, Glenn Selig says, “We’re proud to use our skills to increase awareness of brain tumor research and treatments to communities across the country. We’re thrilled to be the resources of PR NewsChannel behind such a worthwhile organization.”

Selig Multimedia joins other Miles for Hope national sponsors  that include AirTran Airways, Northwest Biotherapeutics, HealthBank and Mease Dunedin Hospital.
