Swine Flu Expert and Family Practitioner Explains How to Stay H1N1 Free during the Holidays on Orlando's NBC Affiliate
November 24, 2009 - thepublicityagency.com

Orlando, Fla. / Swine flu expert Dr. Stephanie Haridopolos warned people about the spread of H1N1 during the holidays on Orlando’s NBC affiliate, WESH, Monday, Tampa PR Firm, The Publicity Agency, reported. The family practitioner was featured in two separate stories in the 4pm and 5pm newscasts.

“People are coming together in close quarters for the holidays,” Dr. Haridopolos told WESH reporter Gail Paschall-Brown. “That is just a breeding ground for the flu, especially this year with H1N1.”

Dr. Haridopolos recently urged the airlines to waive cancellation and rescheduling fees for those people who have H1N1 and don’t want to fly. “People shouldn’t be penalized for doing the responsible thing and preventing the spread of the virus,” she says.

Washing your hands frequently is one of the best ways to prevent contracting H1N1. But Dr. Haridopolos says you also need to make sure other surfaces are cleaned often.

“When someone sneezes or coughs, the H1N1 virus can travel up to 10 feet in the air,” she says. “You want to make sure if you wipe down countertops and door handles in your home or if you’re on a plane, the arm rests and tray tables.”
