(PR NewsChannel) / March 15, 2011 / CHICAGO / Chicago may come to WLS-AM to talk, but listeners who tune in Wednesday morning are sure to be doing a lot of listening when Rod Blagojevich, the always outspoken former governor, fills in for Don and Roma on the ‘Don Wade and Roma Show.’

The station announced today that Blagojevich will host the program from 5am-9am.  Though he has been a guest many times, this will be only the second time Blagojevich (www.governorrod.com) has pinch-hit on the highly rated morning radio show since being removed from office.

“The time is right, given the events in the city, the state, and the region Rod Blagojevich is an undeniably Chicago character who gets people talking,” says Michael Damsky, president and general manager of WLS-AM (www.wlsam.com).   “We expect that he will engage listeners and ask them to weigh in on a variety of issues that affect the state and the world and he won’t shy away from detractors.  When he’s on the air, it’s must-listen radio”

On August 17, a jury deadlocked on all 23 corruption counts against him.  He was convicted on only one count: lying to the FBI in 2005, years before he is alleged to have schemed to sell the senate seat vacated by President Obama.  He denies the charge.

Since his arrest, Blagojevich has kept a high profile.  He has insisted from the beginning that he is innocent of all charges.  He faces retrial on April 20.

A few weeks before the first trial began, WLS put ‘The Rod Blagojevich’ radio show on indefinite hiatus out of respect for the judicial system.   It had aired live every Sunday.

“I miss talking to the people, explaining them about really goes on and what they can do about it,” says Blagojevich.  “I have a few surprises planned.”

Who will be his guests?  Blagojevich says he’ll reveal that, and more about the upcoming show, throughout the day on his Twitter page @governorrod  (www.twitter.com/governorrod).
