Season 1 (U.S. Version) debuts on DVD from Acorn Media on March 15, 2011. Like never seen before, Sarah Jessica Parker (Sex and the City), Dallas Cowboys legend Emmitt Smith, Oscar® winner Susan Sarandon (Dead Man Walking), Emmy®-winning director Spike Lee (Do the Right Thing, Malcolm X) and actors Matthew Broderick (Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Glory), Brooke Shields (Suddenly Susan), and Lisa Kudrow (Friends) travel the world to uncover the secrets and surprises of their family trees. Lisa Kudrow is also an executive producer for the series.

Working alongside genealogists, researchers and historians, the stars excavates stories from their families’ past. Sarah Jessica Parker’s search leads back to the Salem witch trials. Dallas Cowboys legend Emmitt Smith follows his slave ancestors to Benin. Lisa Kudrow learns the truth of her great-grandmother’s fate in the Holocaust. Tony® winner Matthew Broderick traces his family to battlefields in France and America. Brooke Shields unearths her royal connections. Oscar® winner Susan Sarandon explores the racy life of her grandmother. And Emmy®-winning director Spike Lee meets a relative he didn’t know he had. After searching her family history, Sarah Jessica Parker noted, “It’s changed everything about who I thought I was, everything.”
Intriguing, moving, and ultimately uplifting, this series proves that genealogy is more than a pastime. It’s a journey through history that changes everything. The series was filmed on location in Benin, Belarus, Poland, Italy, France, among other locations.
Broadcast on NBC in March and April 2010, "Who Do You Think You Are?" is produced by Shed Media U.S. in association with Lisa Kudrow’s production company, Is or Isn't Entertainment. The series is based on the hit, ongoing British series that debuted on the BBC in 2004 and has aired for eight series so far.
