CHICAGO / Rod Blagojevich appeared on NBC’s Today Show this morning, reports Tampa PR Firm, The Publicity Agency (http://www.thepublicityagency.com). This is the former Illinois Governor’s first interview since a verdict was reached in his federal corruption trial.
Blagojevich was found guilty on only one of the 24 charges filed against him, making false statements to the F.B. I, a verdict he will appeal. Prosecutors say they are planning on a retrial even as The Washington Post and The Wall Street Journal editorial boards have questioned the US Attorney's move to retry the governor. The Wall Street Journal even called for Patrick Fitzgerald to resign. This morning, Blagojevich told NBC's Meredith Vieira, "I'm absolutely very determined to seek vindication. I have done absolutely nothing wrong. This is a persecution by a prosecutor who for six years tried to persecute me."
Blagojevich also told Vieira he is ready to testify, should he face a new trial. "Look, I wanted to take the stand the first time around," he said. "I am fully willing to do it the second time around, if there is one."
The former Governor will do interviews with two Chicago radio stations today. He will also appear on FOX News Sunday with Chris Wallace and The Daily Show with Jon Stewart on Monday night.
