(PRNewsChannel) / February 02, 2010 / Chicago, Ill. / Introducing him as a "twice elected governor," former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich told WLS-AM tonight that the fact the Democratic primary race for his old job between incumbent Gov. Pat Quinn and challenger Dan Hynes was so close was very telling.
"The fact that it's so close is interesting," said Blagojevich. "When I ran in 2002 I was down in the vote... This could actually be a very close race and I would not write Hynes off. My gut tells me Hynes will do well downstate."
At the time, Pat Quinn had 53%, 47% went for Dan Hynes.
Soundiing almost statesman-like, Blagojevich acknowledged that voters were angry.
"These are very hard times and people are strugging and government is not easing the burden on people," Blagojevich said.
When asked if he thought people were angry at him, he said: "I really fought to change things in Illinois... I actually got things done for people," said Blagojevich. "I'm asserting very emphatically that the charges against me are false to the extent that the people are angry they've been lied to and I've been lied about."
Blagojevich hosts a weekly live political talk radio program Sundays on WLS-AM.
