Tampa, Fla. / Tampa PR firm, The Publicity Agency (www.thepublicityagency.com), set up an interview forTampa attorneyAndrew Bragg to speak withABC Action News Tuesday about sinkhole insurance coverage, the PR agency said.WFTS reporter Kerry Kavanaugh asked Bragg about a new Florida law that is changing sinkhole coverage for homeowners.
“The new law hurts homeowners,” says theTampa attorney. “If someone thinks they are saving money on their policy, they are wrong. It’s going to come back to bite them when they realize they are not adequately covered for damage.”
The goal of the new law, which went into effect January 1, is to help make insurance premiums more affordable for homeowners. But Bragg says it could only make matters worse.
“In order to lower premiums, insurance companies only going to cover catastrophic ground collapses,” he says. “Insurers will not pay for minor settlement distress, cracking or anything related to subsidence damage unless you pay an additional fee.”
If you are not sure how the new law affects your coverage, Bragg suggests calling your insurance company to review your policy.
