Audio Recordings of Drew Peterson Depict Former Cop as ‘Cold’ in Disappearance of Missing Wife

In conversations with author Derek Armstrong for the book ‘Drew Peterson Exposed,’ Armstrong suggests Peterson’s own words raise questions about his assertions of innocence.

(PRNewsChannel) / Chicago, Ill. / Uncensored audio recordings just released by the author of the new book Drew Peterson Exposed portray Peterson, the former Chicago-area police sergeant who’s the prime suspect in the disappearance of his wife Stacy, as a cold, heartless suspect even as he talks about the possibility of his wife being dead.

“...she comes up dead or something, they’re going to be looking at me,” Drew Peterson is recorded saying in a conversation with investigative author Derek Armstrong.  “If she shows up in Alaska or something, then I physically couldn’t be there and do that. Depends. So—and that’s got me a little concerned…”

Armstrong recorded nearly 200 hours of interviews in broadcast-quality audio.

He says even though Peterson passed key questions asked in a polygraph taken as part of the book, Peterson’s own words add to the mystery of what happened to Stacy and to his knowledge of the fate of his third wife Kathleen, whose death was recently ruled a homicide.

Ironically, Peterson cooperated fully with Armstrong.  But Armstrong says it’s Peterson’s own words that may cause some to question what he really knows.

“There’s been a lot of focus on the polygraphs and three deceptive answers in Drew Peterson Exposed,” Armstrong says. “But Peterson’s own words are very telling.  He may not like all of what he hears but he has no one to blame but himself.”

Armstrong says one quote in particular stands out.

“I spent my days working cons on people,” Peterson tells Armstrong.

“I think it’s pretty important that he admits he can ‘work cons’ under pressure when you strap the man on to a polygraph machine,” Armstrong says. “The entire book is a step-by-step investigation, in which each interview, timeline or polygraph question is designed to impeach or support the other. This is how investigations proceed.”

“There is enough in the way of disturbing circumstances to concern any investigator, myself included… In the absence of more convincing evidence than I’ve been able to turn up, I think this case may remain open for some time to come. Can I make a call on his guilt or innocence? No, I cannot,” Armstrong says.
