Venerated Nurse Joseph F. Ferry, RN, BSN, will be Honorably Mentioned in the Worldwide Leaders in Healthcare

With an upcoming publication in the Worldwide Leaders in Healthcare, Joseph F. Ferry, RN, BSN, joins the prestigious ranks of the International Nurses Association. He is a Registered Nurse with four years of experience in his field and an extensive expertise in all facets of nursing, especially management of vascular access devices. Joseph is currently serving patients as Intravenous Nurse at Swedish Medical Center-First Hill Campus in Seattle, Washington. Furthermore, he is a subject matter expert on the placement of peripheral intravenous catheters and peripherally inserted central catheters with use of ultrasound guidance, electrocardiogram, and radiography. Joseph also acts as an educator and consultant to both staff and patients on topics related to vascular access devices, including insertion, maintenance, and care. In addition, Joseph works in the nurse residency simulation center.

An Army ROTC cadet, Joseph attended the University of Tennessee at Knoxville College of Nursing where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing in 2011. Upon passing NCLEX, he was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the Active Duty Nurse Corps of the United States Army. He further completed the Army Medical Department Basic Officer Leadership Course in San Antonio, Texas, and became chemo/biotherapy certified while at Madigan Army Medical Center Washington. Joseph obtained additional training in end of life care, joint forces combat trauma management, and moderate sedation of adult and pediatric patients. Furthermore, he obtained board certification as a Certified Medical Surgical Nurse and Vascular Access Board Certified Nurse. Joseph completed his time on active duty serving as the head of the vascular access program at Madigan Army Medical Center. Joseph is currently pursuing his Doctorate of Nursing Practice with dual Family Nurse Practitioner and Adult Geriatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner concentration from the University of South Alabama, with an expected graduation date in 2019.

Joseph maintains professional memberships with the Oncology Nursing Society, the International Nursing Association, the Academy of Medical Surgical Nurses, and the Association of Vascular Access. In addition, Joseph was honored with several recognitions, including the Army Achievement Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, the Air Assault Badge, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the National Defense Service Ribbon. Joseph attributes his success to his passion for learning, continuing education, and teaching, as well as his passion for helping his patients. When he is not assisting patients, Joseph dedicates his free time to triathlon training.
