Highly Skilled Registered Nurse Angelia M. Elgin, RN, BSN, BSBA, MA, SANE, EMTP, will be Spotlighted in the Worldwide Leaders in Healthcare

With an upcoming publication in the Worldwide Leaders in Healthcare, Angelia M. Elgin, RN, BSN, BSBA, MA, SANE, EMTP, joins the prestigious ranks of the International Nurses Association. Angelia is a retired Fire Chief in the State of Missouri where she was the first African American female to be appointed Fire Chief in the State of Missouri.  She is a registered nurse with 18 years of experience in her field and an extensive expertise in all facets of nursing, especially flight nursing, critical care and emergency room nursing. Angelia is currently serving patients at SSM Health St. Joseph Hospital – Lake Saint Louis in Lake Saint Louis, Missouri. She serves as Coordinator for the Glennon Kids Kare Team, as well as Coordinator for the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Team in the Emergency Department. She also works part time for Barnes Jewish Hospital Trauma and Emergency Department.

Angelia attended St. Louis Community College where she became an emergency medical technician in 1996, and received her Associate in Applied Science degree in Nursing in 1998. An advocate for continuing education, Angelia received her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management acquired in 1998 from Sterling College, followed by her Master of Arts degree in Management gained at the University of Phoenix in 2006. In 2015 Angelia obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Maryville University of Saint Louis, where she is currently pursuing her Doctorate of Nursing Practice with an expected graduation date in 2018.

Angelia holds a number of certificates, including in Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Basic Life Support, Emergency Medical Technology – Paramedic, Emergency Pediatric Nursing, Trauma Nursing Core Course, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support. Additionally, she is a Certified Critical Care Nurse and Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner-Adult/Adolescent. Angelia maintains professional memberships with the American Nurses’ Association, American Association of Critical-Care Nurses, the Emergency Nurses Association, the International Association of Forensic Nurses, National Black Nurses Association, and St. Louis Nurse Practitioner’s Association. She is also a member of the 100 National Coalition of Black Women. She attributes her success to praying every single day, her hard work, and continuing her education. When she is not working, Angelia enjoys spending time with her daughter.
