He is a highly-trained and qualified cardiovascular and thoracic surgeon with a vast expertise in all facets of his work, including cardiovascular and thoracic surgery and treatment of varicose veins. Dr. AlZeerah has been practicing for over 22 years and is currently serving patients at Amarillo Cardiovascular & Thoracic Surgery, P.A, and Varicose Vein Clinic of Amarillo. Furthermore, Dr. AlZeerah is a clinical associate professor in the Department of Surgery at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center.
Dr. AlZeerah attended the Tehran University School of Medicine in Iran and graduated in 1979. He served a cardiovascular and thoracic surgery residency at the University of Toronto in Ontario, Canada, was a registrar in thoracic surgery in Bristol, United Kingdom, and completed a peripheral vascular surgery fellowship at the University of Toronto. Dr. AlZeerah is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons Canada. Additionally, Dr. AlZeerah maintains professional memberships with The Society of Thoracic Surgeons, the American Medical Association, the Canadian Cardiovascular Society, the Southern Thoracic Surgical Association, and the Potter-Randall County Medical Society.
Dr. AlZeerah is received certifications in cardiovascular disease and internal medicine from the American Board of Internal Medicine, and a vascular surgery certification from the American Board of Vascular Medicine. He was honored with the Community Faculty Teaching Award by Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in 2009, and credits his success to his patience, practice, and persistence. When he is not attending to his patients, Dr. AlZeerah enjoys working out and listening to music.
