Democratic presumptive nominee Hillary Clinton leads Republican presumptive nominee Donald Trump by five points nationally with 46 percent of support from registered voters according to a new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll released this morning.

When looking at a four-way ballot race, including Libertarian nominee Gary Johnson and the Green Party’s Jill Stein, Trump’s support lowers: Clinton maintains 41 percent, Trump has 35 percent, Johnson with 11 percent and Stein with 6 percent.

While Clinton holds an advantage with African-Americans, women and voters aged 18-29, and Trump leads with whites and men, both candidates are tied among independents at 36 percent each.

Ahead of this week’s Republican National Convention, only 27 percent of voters view Trump positively while 60 with a 27 percent positive/60 percent negative score (-33) – remaining the most unpopular presumptive presidential nominee in the history of the NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll. Clinton follows with a 34 percent positive/56 percent negative score (-22).

The poll, which was conducted after FBI Director James Comey rebuked Clinton over her email practices yet determined that she had not committed a crime, found that 55 percent of voters believe her use of a private email server is important to their vote – up from 42 percent who said this in late Oct. 2015 after her testimony before the House Benghazi Committee. Half of voters – 50 percent – say she doesn’t have the right judgment to make a good president based upon what they know about the FBI investigation into her email practices, versus 33 percent who say she has the right judgment.

The poll’s results on race relations will release at 5 p.m. ET today, and the poll, in partnership with Telemundo, looks at an oversample of Latino voters, releasing today at noon.
