The Florida Museum of Photographic Arts (FMoPA) will host “Hotel Room Portraits” by Richard Renaldi and Seth Boyd on October 2, 2015.

The Florida Museum of Photographic Arts (FMoPA) is proud to announce the opening of Hotel Room Portraits by Richard Renaldi and Seth Boyd on October 2, 2015. Renaldi will speak about the series at 7 p.m. on the evening of the opening.

Shot over seventeen years and counting, Hotel Room Portraits is not only a series of self-portraits of the photographer couple on their travels, but also documents a gay relationship exploring the universality of human intimacy and aging against the ever-changing, yet paradoxically homogenous backdrop of hospitality architecture. FMoPA is pleased to offer the unique opportunity to experience these lesser-displayed photographs and hear Renaldi speak about their process and work. The exhibition runs through December 28.

“We are thrilled to host these artists and share their interesting, innovative work with the Tampa photography community. We are also excited by the interest of the Tampa Bay Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce and the Tampa International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival (TIGLFF) in the exhibition and lecture,” says Zora Carrier, FMoPA’s Executive Director, “but this show, fundamentally, is about human relationships; this show is for all of us.”

The Florida Museum of Photographic Arts is one of fewer than ten museums in the United States dedicated exclusively to photography and one of two such museums in the state of Florida. FMoPA seeks to enrich the lives of the citizens of the Tampa Bay area by providing rare, specialized access to the wonders of photography not only as an aesthetic form but also as a multi-faceted historical and contemporary document of our world through exhibitions, education, outreach programs, and local collaborations.

Reception: 6 p.m. | Artist Talk: 7 p.m.

Refreshments and flatbreads will be graciously provided by local favorite, Pané Rustica.

Admission: Free for members, $10 for not-yet members.
